10/18/08 - OCTOBER 25th&26th Multi-pitch climbing skills weekend!
Our two day multi-pitch climbing course is an excellent way to experience the Big Walls.
DAY ONE:
Intro to Multi Pitch: So you have experience, you have climbed indoors or have had a basic lesson outdoors and you want to get better, you want to go bigger. You are ready for multi pitch. Nine hundred feet of climbing is about the height of the Hancock Tower in Boston. Does that sound like fun? Anchor placement, protection placement, protection removal, rope management transitions, all are different when your feet are not on the ground. We cover it and help you get comfortable. You need to know how to belay, how to tie in, be fit and want an adventure.
DAY TWO:
Basic Self-rescue This course is designed for those who have taken our INTRO TO MULTI-PITCH CLIMBING course, or others with equal experience. This course will help you solidify your knowledge on anchors and gear placement. Learn the basics of belay escape and self-rescue. Important skills on how to escape a belay, rappell, and others will be covered. We will review your skills teach you new ones.
You will need clothing for the weather, a daypack with food and water for the day and a pair of sturdy sneakers to walk in to the climb with (then they go in your pack and will be with you while you climb). We can supply all the technical gear, but if you have your own shoes, harnesses, helmet and or belay device bring it along.
We are offering this on October 25th & 26th. You can do both days or just one, your choice. We can take a maximum of nine participants with a maximum of three participants to one guide. And bring along something to swim in, we usually jump in the Saco River after our climb.
Taught by Joe Lentini-Boston Rock Gym's Head Outdoor Guide.
COST: Members= $135. Non-members=$160 for ONE day, or $250/$300 for both days.
CANCELATION POLICY: Minimum of 7 days notice to re-schedule or cancel. No refunds will be issued inside of 7 days prior to the course. In the event of inclimate weather, BRG or the guide may cancel or re-schedule and refunds may be issued.
Maximum of 9 students, Minimum of 2 required for the course to run.
10/18/08 - BRG Launches it's new teambuilding program: TEAM SUMMIT
The Boston Rock Gym is pleased to introduce TEAM SUMMIT, an innovative team building program that incorporates rock climbing and other challenging exercises to empower staff, enhance team dynamics, and improve productivity. Appropriate for participants of every fitness level, TEAM SUMMIT is a facilitated 4-hour session that focuses on the obstacles that teams face each and every day. Every part of a TEAM SUMMIT session is solution-oriented to ensure teams take away Summit Solutions -- tangible, specific, and attainable goals that the team sets for returning to the office.
Prior to each TEAM SUMMIT session, trained facilitators conduct an in-depth interview with the team leader to assess needs, goals, and obstacles within the organization. Facilitators also conduct a confidential survey of the entire team to determine baseline dynamics. Using this information, a custom syllabus is created exclusively for each TEAM SUMMIT session.
“It has been a month now since our experience, and I can profess to the value of the TEAM SUMMIT program. Since returning to the office, I have seen improvement in teamwork and communication amongst the entire staff,” said Brent Christensen, President & CEO, Gainesville Chamber of Commerce, and a recent TEAM SUMMIT participant.
